Programs and Media Assistant
Church Women United, Inc. is seeking an intern who will work a maximum of 20 hours per week. This is a nine month position (Fall 2014 through Spring 2015) and may be available for full time during summer and renewable for additional semesters.
Responsibilities
• Update and maintain CWU’s social media presence (Facebook, Twitter)
• Assist in planning, writing and managing monthly E-newsletter
• Assisting with website management
• Contributing written materials to WFUNA’s website
Additional responsibilities/ opportunities may include:
• Representing CWU at UN meetings (most are through web events), and sharing relevant information with interested CWU members
Qualifications
• Firm grasp pf available tools and platforms in the social media space
• Previous internship or related experience in marketing or communications is a plus
• An effective communicator, written and oral
• Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines
• Enthusiasm for the mission of Church Women United
The intern will assist with the internal operations of a 73 year old national nonprofit. The Programs & Media Assistant works alongside the National Executive to provide general program support with particular emphasis on public relations and marketing.
This is an outstanding opportunity to network with many faith-based organizations working on gender issues in domestic and international contexts. The candidate will also have the opportunity to represent CWU at the United Nations as our Youth Representative. This opportunity also provides the intern with opportunities to learn more about historical ecumenical organizations during this critical time of the changing landscape in the ecumenical movement. Primary work location will be at The Interchurch Center, 475 Riverside Drive, NY – in the CWU office space.
