Christian Peacemaker Teams is an initiative among Mennonite and Church of the Brethren congregations and Friends United Meeting that supports violence reduction efforts around the world. QuEST stands for Quaker Experiential Service and Training, and is coordinated by the University Friends Meeting (Religious Society of Friends/Quakers). QuEST brings together six interns to live together in community while performing a year of voluntary service in a wide variety of social service agencies in the Seattle area.

Placements are made through a matching process between intern skills and interests and agency needs.  Most interns will qualify for AmeriCorps education awards, and in addition to excellent housing will receive health insurance, a communal food allowance, bus pass, modest stipend, and mentorship and support during their year of service.  We support people in service from a wide range of backgrounds, international volunteers, and people of any (or no) spiritual affiliation.

We seek interns who are committed to community life and engagement, cooperative living, service, and social justice. At least one of our internship sites requires Spanish fluency, and many require a college degree.

Couples or individuals may apply. Applications are due March 1st. One-year minimum commitment required, starting just before Labor Day and ending the following August.

Yangon Academy is an English-medium private school offering an American-based international curriculum. Young Friends in Residence is a collaborative program between New York Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends and Perry City Monthly Meeting with significant support from Farmington-Scipio Regional Meeting. Intern positions.  Located in Newfield, NY at the Beloved Community House.  (Ten miles outside of Ithaca, NY)  Interns will live in intentional community with 2-3 other interns.  Work includes developing youth and adult programs focused on creating a space for friends of all ages to experience, live in and respond to Spirit.  Interns are encouraged to immerse themselves in the local community and participate in the life of Perry City Monthly Meeting and the wider Quaker Community.  An openness to grow and deepen spiritually is required as is experience in Quaker practices. Small monthly stipend ($200) plus room, board and travel expenses. Start Dates March 1 and September 1, 2011.
