Description The Brooklyn Society for Ethical Culture (BSEC), an ethical humanist community, is seeking a part-time clergy Leader (20 hours a week). The Leader for this growing, diverse and vibrant community will be responsible for coordinating Sunday Platforms, supporting our growing Ethics for Children program and attending to the pastoral needs of the congregation. We search for someone who has experience and interest in community outreach as well as in growing and deepening the Brooklyn Ethical community.

Situated in an historic building in the heart of Park Slope, Brooklyn Ethical is a welcoming community committed to nurturing and promoting ethical relationships in all aspects of life, and to actively engaging in the work of building a more just society. BSEC maintains several active committees including Ethical Action, Ethical Education, and Ethical Living. Our Society currently consists of 78 members and we have enjoyed significant growth in recent years. We are well-managed, and our members are committed to ensuring that we remain strong and vital.

We seek: a leader who is enthusiastic about partnering with and leading our community; a dynamic speaker familiar with current religious, philosophical, scientific, economic and political literature; and someone who is stimulating and supportive of inquiry and social activism. The candidate should have experience working with congregations or membership groups, and motivating member volunteers. The Leader will be responsible to the Lay Governing Board and will work with the Administrative Director and the Ethics for Children Director.

The candidate should have an advanced degree in theology, philosophy, social science, the sciences, or the humanities, be comfortable with information technology and social media and either be an experienced Ethical Culture Leader or willing to enter Ethical Culture Leadership training (for more information, visit www.aeu.org).
