Position Chaplain

Description
Full time Chaplain needed. Education required: M.Div from Accredited Theological Institution, ordination and denominational standing, BCCI certification, certified with APC membership. Five years of work experience, experience with older adults, team ministry, palliative and hospice care, and inter-faith settings preferred. Must enjoy ministering to people of all ages but especially our senior population. Must be mindful of the full-time status of this position.

Position Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Provides a variety of spiritual services for the residents of Plymouth Place.
Conducts religious services in the Health Care Center and in Dole Hall on a regular basis.
Arranges for visiting pastors and pianists; develops/coordinates the development of bulletins, etc.
Offers Grace at meals as requested.
Hosts Friday’s visiting pastor at noon meal.
Offers invocation at various Resident Council and committee meetings upon request..
Visits residents on a regular and special occasion basis, i.e., hospital, health care, counseling and birthday visits.
Conducts memorial services for deceased residents.
Responds to emergency calls for residents in the Health Care Center or Hospital.
Participates in resident Care Plan meetings upon request.
Arranges weekly Bible study.
Performs all other duties as assigned.

Participates in ability-based activities and programming as they relate to life enrichment for all Residents.
Complies with attendance policy.
Is aware of and respects resident rights during course of all interactions with residents.
Completes on-line training courses as assigned and in a timely manner.
Attends in-service training programs for department specific and other relevant programs, i.e., safety, infection control, orientation, etc., as scheduled.
Is aware of and carries out general Plymouth Place and specific departmental safety policies; always reports hazards/safety issues promptly.
Is aware of and practices principles of infection control; reports infection control issues promptly.
Respects the confidential nature of resident and employee information and routinely protects against breech of confidentiality.
Practices principles of customer service at all times; handles complaints when scope of position permits; refers complaints to appropriate supervisor.
Is aware of and demonstrates at all times good body mechanics in the performance of his/her job.
Complies with departmental dress code and wears Plymouth Place identification badge while on duty and provides a positive personal image.
Complies with standards of personal hygiene.
Keeps up-to-date with Plymouth Place policies, practices and other general information by reading one's company e-mail (if applicable), HR newsletters, information posted by the time clocks, etc.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform all functions of this job satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School diploma. Master of Divinity degree required from Accredited Theological Institution, ordination and denominational standing, BCCI certification, certified with APC membership. Five years of work experience desired. Special training in the field of gerontology a plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small and large group situations to residents, customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to speak, read and write the English language. .

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding sufficiently to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to interpret operating conditions of equipment via indicator gauges.

SPECIAL SKILLS

Membership in the College of Chaplains desired. Must be able to follow instructions and be willing to complete the tasks in a timely manner. Must be a self-motivated person who is comfortable with face-to-face communications with people. Must have an understanding of the mission and goals of Plymouth Place.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk clearly and hear within normal range. The employee must push and pull and lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. A good sense of balance and dexterity with both hands.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to temperature variations. The position may include manual washing of serviceware and utensils requiring submersion of hands in hot water and detergents. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
